A new species of tick, Ornithodoros anduzei, (Ixodoidea, Argasidae) from bat caves in Venezuela
Resumen
On december 27, 1939, Mr. Pablo Anduze collected seven ticks in a bat cave at San Esteban, Edo. Carabobo, Venezuela. These consisted of 1 female, 3 males and 3 nymphs. An examination of the described species of the genus shows quite clearly that this tick has not been previously recognized. It belongs in the group with prominent movable cheeks to the camerostome (0. talaje Guerin-Men., 0. asperus Warburton, 0. dunni }latheson, 0. brodyi Matheson and 0 . azteci Matheson). However it is quite distinct from any of these as may be seen from .the description which follows. I propose to name it Ornithodoros anduzei in recognition of the collector.
